The calculation of the hit count (number of hits before tool replacement) in drilling operations is influenced by multiple factors:

  • Drill bit diameter

  • Use of new or re-sharpened drill bits

  • Type of material being drilled

NF Trading provides optimized calculation tables for new drill bits, based on a peripheral cutting speed of 150 m/min. To calculate the correct hit count:
1️⃣ Identify the value corresponding to the drill diameter and material type.
2️⃣ Convert the value to millimeters.
3️⃣ Divide it by the thickness of the material to be drilled.

For re-sharpened drill bits, it is recommended to reduce the hit count by 20% compared to new drill bits to ensure longer tool life and maintain hole quality.
